Goodbye Newborn, Hello Baby

I had a sad realization the other day as I visited my friend Kasey and her tiny, adorable newborn baby, Sam. I REALLY DON'T HAVE A NEWBORN ANYMORE! He was teeny with newborn skin, and newborn sounds, and that perfect newborn head, and fine newborn hair, and that newborn sack of rice in your hands feel. I could have held him all day. I came home and Lucy looked massive. Huge. Old. It was then that I started to think of all the ways she's changed (not all bad either) since the day we brought her home. So, I thought I'd make a list:

1. The sleep. She slept 7 pm to 7 am the other day (hasn't quite repeated the beauty of that night, but we're hopeful!).

2. She eats cereal. We started her on cereal the other day (hence, the sleep). She hates the rice cereal but loves the oatmeal.

3. She rolls. She just started rolling consistently; it's the slowest most cautious roll you have ever seen. I know it's a little late to roll at 5 months, but my kids haven't yet proven themselves as athletes.

4. She's pretty close to sitting. Sitting has been very important to my girls. Sabrina sat early too. (Come on now, NO jokes about the apple not falling far from their couch potato mother's tree!)

5. She does not sleep through church. Let's just leave it at that.

6. She laughs at me and Sabrina.

7. The chub. Some days I put her in nothing but a onesie just to squeeze her thighs.

The other day, Paul said, "Being a parent is sad. You never have them as they are again." It's so true. We are very lucky to have them as they are though.

Cousins

I am guilty of posing these kids for the sake of a cute picture, but man, are they adorable or what?! We love our cousins.

A Useful Reminder

I attended our stake Women's Conference today, and during one of the classes, they played this clip. It's a good reminder for us all.

Before and After

Because life is too short to only have one hairdo!

Happy? Birthday Paul!

Yesterday was Paul's 27th. We had plans. And so did Old Man Winter. He gave Paul the flu. Our birthday boy pretty much laid around all day and ate none of his homemade birthday sugar cookies (not really a cake man). I also had a pot roast going for a special birthday dinner, but that was quickly donated to the Radmalls when it was making Paul nauseous. Happy Birthday Paul! And happy eating Radmalls.

It's true. My life has come to this:

So I'm watching the Jazz game with Paul the other night and I see a commercial for "2X Concentrated All Laundry Detergent." I don't know if you've noticed or not, but all detergent is 2X concentrated now. Two thoughts: 1. What?! Our laundry detergent was watered down for all those years weighing down our shelves, grocery carts, and causing me to exert extra energy. Where was John Stossel on that one? 2. Why stop now? I want 6X concentrated detergent. All of you who live in 700 sq. feet like I do will understand. (I am not sure that is any of you.)
