Pig Tails

It was a major effort to put Sabrina's hair in pig tails this morning. Such an accomplishment, I felt should be shared with our readers. The end result was worth the effort though. (Note: Ever since she started walking, I can't seem to get her to hold still long enough to take a picture. She always looks away just as I snap the picture, so these were the best I could get! She doesn't quite know how to pose and cheese yet.)

Our Favorite Clip of the Last Week ...

We'd like to give a special thank you to Dansie for sending us this clip. We've been laughing for a week about it. Also, if you haven't seen the movie "Spellbound," you need to check it out! Enjoy!

Weekend Trips

Sensing that we are soon leaving this cultural hot spot, the Sampsons have been doing a lot of weekend sightseeing lately. Here are some shots from these mini-trips.
This is a pre-teen type band that was playing on the mall... below, Sabrina was thoroughly unimpressed.
You may recognize this shot from TV... or the above band's promotional video. Some guy with a camera came over and filmed Sabrina for about a minute. Hmmmmm...

Turns out...

that campy answers to questions are just what they're looking for in a part time first grade teacher. I got the job at Freedom Elementary (in Lehi/Highland) area. It's a part time position so I am sharing a class with another teacher. I think it's going to work out well. Tentatively, she'll teach from 8:00 to 11:30 or so and I'll teach from about noon to 3:30. It'll be enough to get me benefits and a little extra cash each month and to offset the amount of student loans we'll need to take out. One downside to this is that Paul is going to have to play "Mr. Mom" to Sabrina for the family reunion in Boise. I won't be able to come until Friday night.

Mrs. American Fork here I come!

I interviewed for a part time teaching position today for next year over the phone and had an interesting compliment given me. I think it's important to note that I was literally wearing my pj's and had not yet "put on my face" for the day...not exactly the black Hillary Clinton pants suit that Dr. Linda Benson told me I must wear in order to get hired. Anyway, one of the questions asked me was "What three words would those who know you best say about you as a teacher?" In my best pageant voice (and rolling my eyes the whole time. Remember, this is a phone interview) I said "passion, hard work, and commitment." The vice principal then asked me to expound on "passion." Thinking off the top of my head, I went off about the love I felt for education, and students and their progress and how teaching can be a hobby not just a paycheck (I think I stole that line from Mr. Holland's Opus). After about 3 minutes and twenty eye rolls, the vice principal said, "Wow, I could tell by the sound of your voice that you are smiling ear to ear. I give that answer a 10 out of 10." It was then that I realized I should be hitting the pageant scene and not applying for teaching positions at all. I'll let you know if I get the job.

Happy Father's Day!

Here's a shout out to all the dads out there (only 1 day late too!), and a special "We love you!" to George and Den Den and to Subby's favorite "da"... Paul.

The Ditty Boys

Last night we had Noah and Eli over because Chloe was having a "no boys allowed" 12th b-day party. We had a fun time playing the spray bottle game, the taste game (Eli was the MVP of the taste game), and "honey, if you love me smile!" They were a lot of fun, and we are going to miss them when we leave.

Don't be fooled...

by this innocent face!!

Sabrina has recently decided to bathe standing up. This adventurous position led to her squatting and going #2 during her bath tonight! Luckily, I was able to call for back up as Paul was already home from work. Cleaning up the mess reminded me of my own mother rinsing out our cloth diapers back in the day (70s and 80s). Mom, I owe you one! That must have been disgusting. The picture in her pjs was literally minutes after cleaning the mess; the other was the closest thing I have to a mug shot (wacky hair and all!).

I believe I remember a story where Natalie did the same thing? Am I wrong?

We've joined the blogosphere!

Hey all! The Sampsons have joined the Sampsons (Curtis, Aryn) in the blogosphere. We are hoping to keep family and friends close through the world's wide web. Hopefully, we'll post often and entertain you always. Here's a picture of Sub (Sabrina) to welcome you. She loves the pool and clearly, has her dad's "squinting problem."
