"Wa Wa's" Happy Day!

Note: This post falls under the "Our kid is SO cute" category. I don't expect anyone to feel obligated to agree! I really write these so I don't forget the little things she says.

Ever since we had Nolan and Andrew's birthday party last month, Sabrina loves to sing "Happy Birthday." I don't know if it's because Ella was in attendance at the party, but she always asks to sing "Wa Wa's Happy Day!" over and over again. When it comes to the part where you sing "Happy Birthday dear (name here)" she says "Sabeena." So the song really has nothing to do with Ella at all. A little odd, but cute at the same time.

Another cute saying that I should get down so I don't forget it later is whenever I set her food in front of her (even if it is something cold) she says "Oh, it's berry hot!" then she'll blow on it before she takes a bite.

While I'm on the subject too...I asked Sabrina if we were having a baby boy or a baby girl the other day and she said "girl." Then Paul reversed it and said are we having a baby girl or a baby boy, and she said "boy." I use the same trick in the first grade all the time. Whenever we have to vote on something, I always announce the one I want them to pick last. It works about 90% of the time.

Happy Easter!

I thought that I would post some pictures of Sabrina on Easter. We actually celebrated Easter with the Ricks family the Sunday before (We made $30.75 in the money egg hunt; totally pagan, but tons of fun!); so Easter morning was very casual. We looked at our baskets, ate some chocolate for brunch, did a small egg hunt (Sabrina was the only participant), and went to church. Our friends in the nursery had a rough day (I think they were going through Easter Bunny detox on our shift). After church we headed to the Sampsons for a delicious dinner, a great Easter lesson, and another egg hunt for the kids. We were happily surprised to see Nate and Aryn and their girls there. They're always great at keeping us updated on what's happening on "The Hills" and discussing the ins and outs of "The Bachelor". We wish we could have spent more time with them. We hope you all had a great holiday!

Note: It is nearly impossible to get Sabrina to cheese for the camera although it is fairly easy to get her to act shy and suck her fingers the minute the camera comes out. She needs serious posing lessons. These are the best I could get.

My intentions were good (Warning: this post is rated PG-13)

So Sabrina and I went visiting teaching tonight at a lady named Alice Ho's house. She is Hawaiian and totally nice and inviting and great. Sabrina loves to say, "Ba Bye (insert name here)" whenever she can, even while driving in the car when we aren't saying bye to anyone. She says bye to the temple (we drive by the temple daily), house, car, trees, animals... you name it. So back to tonight; we are leaving Sister Ho's house, and I say, "Sabrina, can you say bye to Sister Ho?" and she says, "Ba Bye Ho!" repeated several times there and a few more times on the way home. Oh dear.

Some BIG News...

Baby #2 is on it's way! I will be twelve weeks on Tuesday so I decided that it was probably safe to tell now. I am going to the doctor on Wednesday and am thrilled to hear the heartbeat. It may be best to do the rest of this post in a Q and A format:

Q: When are you due?
A: September 30, 2008. But let's all take a minute to remember that Sabrina was 9 days late and induced. So if you ask me I'm going to tell you October 10th.

Q: How are you feeling?
A: Great. Thanks for asking. I actually was pretty sick a couple of weeks ago with the worst of it being on Valentine's Day. Hence, I should go back to the Valentine's Day post and write that Paul and I spent the whole night on the couch, while I was doubled over with nausea.

Q: Do you want a boy or a girl?
A: Don't really care. I will say, however, that if it is a boy, he may have to get in touch with his feminine side because I am not buying new hooded towels, wash cloths, burp colths or a swing which is a pretty purple paisley pattern.

Q: Have you thought of any names?
A: No. Not at all. I don't think we are going to tell anyone what name we are going to use even when we do know. We HATED naming Sabrina (but love her name). Suddenly everyone had an opinion. This may be the last time you want to ask this question.

Q: Are you going to find out what you're having?
A: Nope. We love the thought of having the doctor announce it. TOTALLY kidding! We love the thought of the ultrasound tech telling us at the half-way point so that we can get ready and not buy only green and yellow.

Q: How are you going to handle the DC heat being so pregnant?
A: Only time will tell, my friends. Only time will tell.

Q: Are you teaching next year?
A: Nope. Signed my resignation letter on Friday. It was bitter-sweet. Then my students broke the listening center and the pencil sharpener in one day. Then it was just sweet.

Q: Are you excited?
A: Totally. We can't wait to have another sweet baby in our house.

Q: Are you nervous?
A: Of course. Maybe even more than when we were having Sabrina. I think this time we know what we're getting ourselves into and that has me nervous and excited. If this child is anything like Sabrina, however, we'll be in great shape.

Our TV is broken

Until about 7:30 pm; then it seems to work just great! We took a cue from Curtis and Gretel and unplugged our TV during the day this week. You see, this dreary winter was not good for Sabrina's TV watching habits. We couldn't go outside so the tube would inevitably come on and stay on. She started yelling at me and clinging to my legs to watch a show. So we've been pretending it's broken and I'm surprised that she hasn't really seemed to mind. In fact, she tries to push the power button, then she comes over to me and calmly says "it's broten." Now, I'm not banning TV altogether, but for now, we're on detox. Wish us luck!

Note: I have not seen Regis and Kelly all week, which I miss. I do NOT miss Good Things Utah, however. (I don't really watch that show, but it comes on after Regis and Kelly). Tell me I'm not the only one out there who finds those ladies a little annoying.

Note: Interesting tidbit of info... the hotel where the luncheon took place is called the Mayflower, and it is apparently the same place where that creepy governor from New York got in trouble.

We came, we slept, we left, we forgot to take pictures

Yep. That's about it. Paul and I arrived in DC at 11:00 pm Tuesday night. Had Noah not practiced his piano, we may never have seen the kids at all, but luckily he did. This woke us up in time to learn that Eli had lost a tooth and that the DC Sampsons are eagerly awaiting a trip to Disneyworld. We attended the luncheon around 12:00 noon and were surprised to see Chief Justice Roberts there. The solicitor general announced Paul and his award, and I couldn't have been prouder. Then it was straight to the airport for us, no time for much else. They promised me that we would get a picture of Paul getting his award, so when it comes I'll post it. Quick trip but a much needed break from school. Now we hit the home stretch until finals and our next big move.

DC Here We Come!! (again) (and again)

Paul and I are headed to DC tomorrow because he is receiving the Shawn Bentley Public Service Award at a luncheon held on Wednesday. Way to go Paul! My only regret is that we will spend less than 24 hours there before flying home. Kind of a bummer. He works really hard in school, and it looks like the hard work has been paying off. Thanks to my mom for taking Sabrina while we go.

Our other big news is that we will be moving for the 4th summer in a row to (drum roll please) Washington DC (gasp! JK). Paul will be working in the office of the US Attorney for the DC area and also at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck as a summer associate. We were ecstatic that Paul got a job this summer. It is the 4th summer in a row that we have moved and our 3rd move to DC. My feeling is that it probably won't be our last time moving there either. So much for marrying someone local! I joke, but our adventures have been fun, and we can't wait to see the DC Sampsons and friends again.
