All My Bags Are Packed...

I'm ready to go...I'm standing here outside your door (The Peter, Paul, and Mary version of this song, NOT the Ben Affleck version from that Armageddon flick!). I finished packing everything we'll need in the next two months. Perhaps, not EVERYTHING, but we're lucky that we feel nearly local in Arlington, so I know where there's a good Target, a scary Giant (grocery store), a better Giant, a Harris Teeter, and last but not least a Bob and Edith's Diner (actually the only time I went to Bob and Edith's, I smelled of pork products all day...I've never gone back. Shelley can vouch for this!). We are jumping out of our seats with excitement to get to see Paul. Sabrina wanted me to make him waffles this morning (we've taken a pancake break), so that tells me that she's excited too. One of the last things on my VERY full to do list this week was go get the pictures we had taken of Sabrina a few weeks ago. Here are just a few. Maybe I'll be nice this time and not post the blooper shots of her. Then again, maybe not (it all depends on my boredom level).

Any suggestions from experienced parents about how to keep a 2 year old entertained on a 5 hour flight? I would put in a movie on the laptop, but 1)I'm not sure I should take the laptop because we already have a laptop out there and 2) Would she keep the headphones on? Maybe, maybe not...I can't decide. It's going to be one LONG day; this I know for sure. But well worth it in the end. We'll miss you all! See you in August!

The Final Countdown (don't sing the "Rocky Song" please!!!)

10 days until we leave for DC and get to see Paul (I can NOT wait! Seriously, will I make it?!!)

6 school days until I am DONE with teaching. (They literally hear NOTHING I say! I think the sunscreen is clogging their ears!)

3 days until I get my hair done. (Trust me, this is an event.)

Well, it was fun...NOT!!

Just watched the Jazz game. Will the Jazz forever disappoint? Are they our Cubs? We can't jump ship; it's not in our nature. We hate nothing more than someone who was raised in Utah who is a Spurs fan or a Lakers fan, as if you can just choose "any" team you want because they win sometimes. That's like choosing your family.

It's a GIRL!!

We had our ultrasound this morning, and I am happy to report that we are expecting another girl!! This may sound dumb and it actually is kind of dumb, but I swear she looked like Sabrina (pointy nose and chin, Sampson forehead, big eyes). I am so lonely and bored these days that I even went home and compared Sabrina's ultrasound to this baby's ultrasound. Surprisingly similar. I am a dork, I know, and they will probably end up looking really different. Really, the best news was that the baby looks healthy. Thank you to my mom and Carolyn for coming with me so I didn't have to 1. comfort Sabrina (there's something about a dark room and a paper table that make her a little nervous) and 2. be excited alone!! My condolences go out to Den Den who was hoping for a streak of 4 Sampson boys. This streak ends at 1. My condolences also go out to Paul who is now really outnumbered. A congratulations go to our baby whom we promised that if a boy and if the Jazz won the championship this year, we would name after the MVP of the series...glad she won't be named Deron or Carlos (or Andrei or Mehmet or Ronnie...there's not a decent name on the team come to think of it!). It must have been a really late night when we made that promise. Anyway, we feel blessed!

So I guess I was wrong...

LtoR: Shelley, Me (and a 19 week old unborn child), and Natalie

For years, I have held strong to my belief that no matter what people said my sisters and I don't look THAT much alike. Well, while we were in St. George, Natalie had someone take this picture of us. I have never seen us all smile exactly the same like this. So I guess the lady at the Bear Paw who asked Shelley and I if we were twins and the lady at my mom's work who saw this picture and asked if Natalie and I were twins weren't too off!

Kyle Korver v. Shauna Lake

This is mainly just for Paul because I miss him, and we have laughed about this interview for weeks. Everything from the hugging the pillow to the peanut butter and jelly sandwich... AWKWARD is the name of the game on this one. Would you consider Kyle Korver a sex symbol? He wouldn't.

We miss him already!

Paul took off to DC on Monday, and can I just say that I am no good single!!! Sabrina seems to miss Paul too. Because she is spoiled (or maybe because I don't want to start out our day with a tantrum), I make pancakes for breakfast probably 4 to 5 times a week. I usually make 6 pancakes (2 for each of us), and when Sabrina and I are in our places ready to eat, she usually pages Paul (who is often still in bed) by saying, "Come on, Daddy...pancakes...come on...up (wake up) daddy...pancakes." She keeps it up until he joins us. Well, this morning it was a little sad when she paged, and paged, and paged him only to find that he wasn't here. I wish we could have gone with him. It's only 26 days, but it feels like an eternity.

Paul started work today at Brownstein Farber and got to go to a hearing on the mortgage crisis and write a brief on it. He sounded like he was enjoying it. He was eager to start as evidenced by his 8:00 AM arrival. No one else showed up until about 9:30... only Paul and the secretary. Way to be punctual PJ! I wish I could have taken a picture of you on your first day of work and watched you lay out your clothes the night before. We totally miss you!

Seriously, I am dying for any adult to talk to, so if anyone out there wants to get together in the next month, I am game!!

A Mom's Siesta!!

Here we are waiting patiently at the Bear Paw (a MUST if you are in St. George)

The Awesome Runners

I was extremely lucky this past weekend to get an early Mother's Day gift from Paul when I got to spend the weekend with some of my favorite gals in St. George "kid free!" We had a blast!! We went down for a half-marathon in Hurricane, UT where Shelley, Miller (Lindsey South), Kristine , and Lisa ran the race and did a fantastic job. I was training with Miller and Shelley until I got pregnant; so I was so proud of them (and wished I could have run with them). The rest of the weekend was spent talking, eating, shopping, watching the most romantic movie I have ever seen (BBC Sense and Sensibility [in case you were wondering]), crying tears of joy at the end of said movie, retelling my DC "nannying nightmare" and laughing so hard about that experience that I was crying, relaxing by the pool in the "Mrs. Roper" maternity swimsuit, "fighting" with Shelley (sorry Shell...feel free to learn Spanish...I fully support you), and last but not least...taking a nap (I can't remember the last time that happened). I love going anywhere with my sisters, and our friends just added to the fun. Thanks for a great weekend girls and thank you to Paul for handling Sabrina so I could get away. Let's do it again!!
